How It Works

A Member-Led Community

The Whisky Mixer is run by its members, for its members. The inaugural group — the Founders Fourteen — held their first live meeting and launched in November 2025 which brought together a mix of whisky enthusiasts, collectors, seasoned networkers and complete beginners. The Founders also act as the board, helping guide the club and supporting the cooperative whisky collection owned collectively by members.

Membership & The Cooperative Collection

Every member holds a stake in the Whisky Mixer Cooperative, which owns a growing whisky collection on behalf of the group. At least 50% of every membership fee is invested directly into the collection, which is stored, insured and professionally managed.

Members keep the stake they earn for each year of membership — even if they leave — making it a giftable and willable asset. The Whisky Mixer reinvests any surplus funds back into the cooperative at the end of each year, ensuring the collection increases in value over time.

  • Access to private member sections and the Founders Fourteen network Live Auction & Retail Valuations: Members have access to live retail and auction valuations of over 300,000 bottles from around the world, ensuring they always have up-to-date pricing and market trends at their fingertips. This service, which typically costs £60-70 per month per person, is included in their membership.

  • Personal Collection Monitoring: The Founders Fourteen can track their personal collections within the private members' section. This helps members make informed decisions about selling or expanding their collection.

  • Access to Special Events In addition to our monthly tastings, Whisky Mixer also hosts exclusive events such as blind tastings, guest distillery visits, and whisky tours. These events provide our members with the opportunity to experience even more of the whisky world.

Our Event Structure

Whisky Mixer meetings are designed to balance professional networking with whisky discovery. Events are led by the CEO (chair), Cellar Master (pouring) and Whisky Sommelier (collection and finance). Events run from 6pm–8:30pm, with a break for nibbles and conversation.

A typical evening includes:

  • Collection Corner: a short insight into one bottle from the cooperative collection, covering its story and current market performance.

  • Guided Tastings: three whiskies with tasting notes, led by the CEO and Cellar Master

  • Tipple, Tackle, Tip & Take: members share a whisky they enjoy, an area of business support they need, one line of advice, and a 60-second network pitch.

  • Market Insights: exclusive reports from auction and retail partners about current whisky trends and future opportunities

  • The WVA Special: a rare or premium whisky to close the evening, followed by the group vote on the favourite of the night.
